What is tallow and why is it good for skin?

Tallow is a nutrient rich fat rendered from of beef suet. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and closely mimics the structure of human skin's sebum, making it highly compatible and nourishing. It deeply moisturizes, supports skin barrier repair, and can help with dryness, irritation, and inflammation.

How do I use tallow on my face and body?

Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin and massage gently. A little goes a long way! It can be used as a daily facial moisturizer or a healing salve topically anywhere you have skin.

Why should I patch test tallow?

Even natural or organic ingredients like tallow, essential oils or plant extracts can cause reactions for some people. Patch testing is wise for everyone, especially those with sensitive or reactive skin. We recommend patch testing for 24 hours on your inner arm before using a new product, just to be safe.

Tallow is typically shelf stable for for up to a year when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For longer shelf life, refrigeration is an option but not required.
